CELTIC LEAGUE - PRESS INFORMATION

NO 'GAME' FOR THOSE STILL SEEKING JUSTICE!

A further indication of the strength of feeling over the use of the GAA ground at Croke Park was evident today when Republican Sinn Féin issued a press notice calling for a meeting with GAA Bosses.

Republican Sinn Féin's President, Ruairí Ó Brádaigh, and Vice-President, Des Dalton, are seeking the meeting with the GAA President, Nicky Brennan, on February 24 in advance of the Ireland/England rugby match in Croke Park.

At the meeting they intend to hand over a letter to Mr. Brennan explaining the reasons behind the Party's protest planned for that day at the GAA ground.

Republican Sinn Féin have also condemned the holding of a rugby march in Dublin between the Combined Services of the British Armed Forces and Irish Colleges. They say that they "view this match as just another event designed to normalise British rule in our country" and go on to stress that "British occupation will never be normal or acceptable and such events will always be opposed by Irish Republicans" .

However as revelations, almost on a weekly basis, emerge about the nature of the complicity between British security forces and loyalist paramilitary murder gangs it is not just fervent republicans who will be uneasy about such steps towards so called "normalisation" .

Many relatives of those killed by murder-gangs organised by the British security apparatus in the North of Ireland will feel betrayed at those who now hold out the olive branch to organisations whose hands still drip with blood'.

Relatives of those killed in the 1974 bombings of Dublin and Monaghan or the family of Co. Louth Forestry Worker Seamus Ludlow are just some of the long suffering bereaved still seeking answers. They should surely see their quest for justice given precedence over a Rugby match?
